Principle
Acid-base titration with the aid of the Cobra SMARTsense pH is used in analytical chemistry for the preliminary examination of corresponding solutions. With its help, statements can be made about the concentration of the substance under investigation.
In this experiment, the students determine the concentration of a hydrochloric acid solution with the help of the Cobra SMARTsense pH. To do this, a known volume of this acid is titrated with a volume of a sodium hydroxide solution of known concentration. The concentration of the hydrochloric acid is then calculated from the consumed volume of the titrated solution and its concentration. The students should be shown by way of example the use of a pH meter in analytical chemistry.
