Principle
Although both parts of the experiment complement each other, it can sometimes be appropriate to only use one part or to let the students conduct the parts in different class periods. The first part should be performed in any case, as it conveys essential basic knowledge for understanding magnifying glasses.
Benefits
- Multifunctional light box - All-in-one: Can be used for geometric optics on the table, colour mixing and on an optical bench
- Extension with others sets at anytime, no additional light sources needed, recognition value for students
Tasks
How can a magnifying glass be used as an aid to vision?
- Investigate how a magnifying glass must be held to produce a virtual image of an object which is as large as possible and which can be easily examined.
- Determine the magnification which the magnifying glass achieves.
