Principle
Various thermoplastics differ in properties that can be detected by using simple means and methods. The common thermoplastics can be relatively easily identified with the help of a determining diagram based on these properties. This experiment goes back to the experiment on properties of plastics, some knowledge thereof are of use during the realisation of the experiment. The identification of unknown plastics proves to be very motivating, especially if the students work in groups and each group examines a different thermoplastic.

Learning objectives

  •  Detection methods of thermoplastics

Benefits

  • Easy teaching and efficient learning by using interactive experimentation PHYWE-Software
  • Experiment is part of a complete solution set with experiments for the topic Chemistry of Polymers matched with international curriculum: all topics are covered
