Principle

Acids show typical properties like the coloration of indicators or the reaction with base metals. However, substances that can form an acid only show
these properties in the form of an aqueous solution. In this experiment students study the behaviour of citric acid with regard to several substances dissolved in water and acetone.

Learning objectives

  • Brönsted definition of acids
  • Behaviour of acids dissolve in water or acetone

Benefits

  • Easy teaching and efficient learning by using interactive experimentation PHYWE-Software
  • Experiment is part of a complete solution set with experiments for the topic acids, alkalis and salts matched with international curriculum: all topics are covered
