Principle
Maltose (= malt sugar) can be detected with Fehling's solution and so be differentiated from starch. Foods containing starch supply malt sugar on digestion. Maltose consists of two glucose molecules. It is proved that starch is decomposed by the digestive enzyme pytalin to malt sugar.

Learning objectives

  • Principle of the digestion process

Benefits

  • Easy teaching and efficient learning by using interactive experimentation PHYWE-Software
  • Experiment is part of a complete solution set with experiments for the topic Food Chemistry matched with international curriculum: all topics are covered
